Earthquake activity in S CA

Hello all!

OK, so I have not written about the frequent small quakes here in South CA 'cause I want to hear what others have to say about other interesting things. But... In the last week I have personally experienced 4 little quakes. One just a few minutes ago. Anyone else in South CA felt them?

I must be sitting on a fault line (and not just San Andrea) because my whole home shakes. I say that because I have friends who live 15 min North of me and they barely feel it. Or maybe they are in denial. Who knows.

I have never experienced so much activity in South CA in such a short time span.

My home is up for sale--anyone interested? :)

Just been on the earth quake pages - there is an awful lot of movement kicking off.

I noted there was a small one in Yellowstone Natioal Park a few hours ago. Yellowstone is one big volcano - there is much worry if that kicks off - total devastation.

There is full moon and Luna eclipse today - the planet formation are adding to all of this.

Does make me wonder as we approach 2012 whats going to happen, also as Levi informed us of polar shift as well.

I read about the Toronto quake. Is this a normal area to suffer from quakes? Does anyone from that area recall a Toronto quake in the past?

Maybe the universe is pissed about the G8 meeting. :)

That is really bizarre to see. There was one in Quebec too. Do they happen often after a natural disaster? I have not read much about this.

Sink holes...

This is a story that has caught my eye the last few days. Sink holes (subsidance of some description)seem to be appearing all over the place.

The latest in China.. one before in Guatamala..

Now this really is scary.

Is this mother nature, planet earth on the move, one would think so unless something un-natural is going on. It seems to be on the increase.

Yep, the Ring of Fire is pissed. There was a big quake in Indonesia. Hope it did not cause any ore loss of life than what I read about last night.

I actually have several bids on my home. Now I am just playing the pressure game. I keep putting pressure on the bank to push it through so I can get the heck out of here! But I may just pack my stuff up before the close as my bf keeps hinting that I do. We'll see.

So here we are slagging of the sheep people who ignore and applaud earthquakes and several of them are lining up to buy our Socorro's quake ridden house. Yeah!

We shouldn't annoyed at them to much in future because it looks like the dumb nuts do have their uses sometimes.

Wonder if anybody there is interested in a bottomless boat! I have a fridge that doesn't work as well if anybody's game.

An ocean view

I was born in Pomona, Calif. in 1942, and experienced many earthquakes. I have always thought it was just a part of living in the area. Any, what I wanted to say is that from Northern Baja all the way up El Centro, and even further up, you have areas that go up to 200 feet or more that are below sea level. It would not take much shake rattle and roll to make the sand permeable, of which; would allow the sea come from below at a nice slow rate, thus allowing you to have a nice sea view in a few years.

This would make Southern California look like islands in the Pacific. Yep, just hold on to your real estate and think about getting a boat. I have always believed this area would fill with sea water one day and maybe you will experience it in the near future. How much are you asking anyway ? HL BELL

Yes, you are right, there is no real safe place but you just have to try to figure out where the minimum damage is most likely to occur. I thought about this when I chose a new place to live. But there are no guarantees, huh? :)

Natural Disasters

Unfortunately wherever you go you can't avoid natural disasters you can only find a place that has minimal disasters and which ones your willing to deal with.

I live in NC on the coast and they always come right at us. They call our area Hurricane alley.

But hurricanes are easy to prepare for and you always get fair enough warning if you have to pack up and run. Not like and earthquake or tornado. Most people that have lived around here long enough have most of what they need already from preparing for previous storms.

Only thing is...it's hot and humid here, lol.

But after the one week motorcycle trip I rode up to Lake George NY for the Americade. The further you go north the more people are stuck up or assholes.

There's nothing like good ol southern hospitality. Mean people are everywhere they are just limited here where I live.

If a tree falls in the street it's the community that chips in and makes things happen not some government employees. Usually the damage you see on the TV is blown way outta proportion. They always show you the worst. Half of the time people are just picking up debris and fixing loose shingles on the rooftops. A few trees may fall over, but that's about it.

Flooding is always a concern in some areas, but I can't remember doing without much for more than a week, let alone a few dayz. Most people have hurricane parties. We see it as a free few dayz off work for anything cat 3 or less.

They actually gave the earthquake a standing ovation? Huh? OK...Now I am dumbfounded...have people become so distracted by sports that even an earthquake does not rattle them?

Granted this was not the big one but it's enough of a wake up call and not meant to be given a standing ovation!

These will probably be the same people who loot others because they did not prepare. Eeek!

Sun spot activity zooming up

I also see on the national papers warnings of sun spot activity about to kick off and bring our communications systems crashing down.

I expect some of that will be man made to keep the channels open for the PTB...

Never mind us poor souls trying to find out if our loved ones are ok....

That is strongest I have seen reading for your part of South CA for a while

SD news report on quake

OK...hope it's OK to post this link since I have been writing so much about the S CA quakes...like I said, they felt strong and I think it was 3 not just one because there was a few seconds break between each one and yep, they felt strong.

But are they really aftershocks? Not sure about that. The reason I say that is because when the big one hit SF we did not experience this many "aftershocks". At least I do not recall this many aftershocks months later.

Funny, Levi mentioned the media would try to portray these quakes as aftershocks...hmmm...
I am not convinced they are aftershocks. Just my opinion. :)

quake update

Hello all!

OK, so a few minutes ago (9:31 PM) we had two strong but brief (luckily)quakes. One right after the other.

To Web Guy: Where's that box of matches you promised?

Matches and a can of gas on the way.
Make sure you have an alibi to say you were at least 20 miles away.

Pay em a grand backhander out of insurance money to make sure they keep quiet.

(Or you can bump em off)

WG and Levi : I can see why our friends in the UK and US should prepare for food shortages etc, due to a number of factors. But what about us folks down under in the great land of OZ? What kind of things can we expect to see in the near future? Good or bad?

Web guy, what are you willing to swap a cup of rice with? Down here in OZ we can light a fire just by rubbing two sticks together. No need for matches.

Sadly nothing is discussed about being prepared for another quake. If someone has a link to a news report discussing earthquake preparedness for South CA, I'd like to see it.

For those that dont know UK - beach hut is what is says it is - a wooden hut on the beach - smaller than most garages....

Maybe a nice cave somewhere would be better suited..

Andrew, sounds like your friend is attending one of those "How to make money" conferences they keep holding in Vegas. It's either a Money Show for Gold or Commodities, or a Money Show for Real Estate, or a Money Show for "how to get your money out of the US" - it is a never ending Show in Vegas on how to make money, but usually the punters lose it all.

Andrew: As for Vegas--I would not set up shop there either!!! You are right--too many rumors of an attack or other weird event there. But then again, who knows? Your friend sounds charming, though.

REK: My home is in excellent condition and I have several people interested due to the neighborhood.
Now it's just a matter of the bank and my agent pushing through the paperwork. What a pain!!! But I will be leaving soon! Yep, leaving CA.

To Web Guy: Thanks for the generous offer. I will keep it in mind. Yep, I have insurance drywall in. But now you spoiled it. Next time write to my email when you have good ideas like that!!! Hahaha! Kidding of course... ;)

But on a serious note, the small quakes have become too recurring to ignore. Maybe nothing will happen right away but I feel it's time to move on.

We all must not forget that for decades most psychics predicted the 'Big One'.. except Levi.
They eventually realized they made fools of themselves because year after year it never happened.

All was quite on the Western Front until out of nowhere comes Levi and starts warning Californians of what has already happened and what is coming.

I know a money hungry guy from OZ who is going on a business trip very soon to Las Vegas. By the looks of the map it looks close to the area you speak about. He is also planning to pay a 10G deposit on a house in CA somewhere. Or so he says.

Silly bugga is so money hungry I wonder what really makes him tic? Like most sheeple he thinks he is so smart and business minded that this is going to make some $$ out of his idea. WRONG!! looks like he is throwing his money down the gurgler! Or is he?

He is probably better of spending his 10G in Vegas as Im sure he might at least get some satisfaction out of it. The guy is such a wanker, his partner is in hospital with a bad infection, and he is complaining that she hasn't finalised his travel plans!! He is so stuck in his selfish ways, he is leaving sick wife behind to look after kids, with a chance she might not get out of hospital anytime soon. Oh yes, I am so sure he will leave her behind!! "Its OK, everyone else can suffer while I go and have the holiday/business trip of a lifetime!"

I hope he experiences the most frightening time of his life. With the other bunch of wealth mongers at the business conference he is attendiing. Apparently there is something like 30,000 people going to this event? Quote me if I am wrong and you know more.

Maybe Mother Earth may have a little surprise for them and open up and swallow them all down. Not sure even if they are worthy of fertiliser in the soil but swallow them up anyways!

Or maybe he is taking the 10G as payment into an underground bunker somewhere for his own selfish safety, along with the other thousands of suits who will be in the area? Anyone know any more on the business conference happening in Las Vegas in the near future? Why so many people attending? Now it seems suspicious to me???

Anyway I can breath better now, just needed to get something off my chest!

CA Quakes

Hi Socorro, - ever since early April when the 7.2 quake hit, there have been swarms of smaller quakes in the Baha area..check out USGS website as it wil show you the magnitude and frequency - believe you just got another 4.5 about an hour ago...not wanting to be the harbinger of bad news, (and certainly would hope I am wrong) but Levi warned that prior to a large quake, to watch for the "swarms".....

And yes - a 7.6 (now downgraded to 7.2 with afterchocks of 6.4) in Vanuatu today at around 10:15 CA time.

Yes Siccoro, I have been reading about it, not much info on TV however, which doesn't surprise me...don't want to frighten the natives too much right? Also, guess you all heard that the Solomon Islands or near there had a 7.3 quake today.
