H1 N1 is it really as serious as they say?

I was diagnosed with H1 N1 by an ER Doctor in my community. I thought I just had the seasonal flu. High fever peaking at 105 deg, I did not have any fluid in my lungs, but my sinuses were completely blocked for 4 days. The Dr. said he could give me Tamaflu if they had some. They are not even testing for H1 N1 anymore unless you are hospitalized with respiratory issues. Or you die. The Dr. said that the H1 N1 is the only flue that is going around now, and possibly will be the seasonal flu. He was not too concerned that I would need to be hospitalized; he said the biggest issue is that H1 N1 is turning into pneumonia.
I did not have the vaccination of either flu's. I still won't. I saw a different Dr. for the note releasing me to work status; this Dr. said that it wasn't H1 N1. But I had to see another Dr. before going back to work, He said that I most definitely had H1 N1 since the other seasonal flu is not here yet, and the symptoms are correct, even though I did not have a lung condition.
(Very surprising to the Dr's since I'm a smoker.)
Needless to say I'm fine now, and I actually feel better than I have in the past year. Very strange, I was prescribed only Vicoden(sp) for the joint and muscle aches associated with H1 N1. Other than that I fought it off all on my own. What's all the Hype about H1 N1 Dr's are not concerned, maybe it is just MSM hype. People may be dying from something else.
