Is Everything You Eat Or Drink Contaminated These Days?

by Hugh Manatee
(Long Island, New York)

I don't know the state of food, water or medicine in other countries around the world, but here in the U.S. it seems like every day there is a new recall in the food supply and pharmaceutical industry.

In the past few years we've seen numerous kinds of fruits and vegetables recalled for E. Coli and salmonella. Then there are all the reports of tainted beef every couple of months throughout the year. Just a couple of days ago 4 popular brands of breakfast cereal were recalled! However the one recall that pissed me off the most was Johnson & Johnson's recall of Tylenol and their whole line of pediatric medicines for children.

All the medicines were contaminated and had a foul odor because their manufacturing plants were filthy and had little quality control...ARE YOU F**CKING KIDDING ME?!!!! Medicine is supposed to heal people and should be made in clean, pristine, germ-free factories, not shitholes for Christ's sake! I don't even know what brand of aspirin to buy because Johnson & Johnson owns almost all of them. It would be easy to blame all these recalls on the corporate bigwigs but ultimately it lays with every worker that works in those factories and allows these contaminated products to leave the factories as well.

The sad fact is nobody who works for these companies give a shit. If they took even an ounce of pride in their work and made sure things were done the right way these problems wouln't happen in the first place. However, if you do get sick and need medicine just drink some tap water because scientists recently found out that many kinds of medications are being found in the water supply. Evidently, so many people are taking pharmaceutical medications for heart disease and depression that these medications are urinated out into the water supply and aren't breaking down no matter how much we filter the water at treatment plants. All these problems just further prove to me that the system is indeed breaking down and you just have to hope for the best because once our food and water are in danger, so are we.

Let's hope Levi is right about 2012 and we all raise our consciousness because we need everybody to wake up and realize that we need to give a shit and do the right thing.

Web Guy:

E-Coli in Fruit & Veg? What a coincidence. The mainstay of vitamins. Don't be surprised if there's nothing wrong with them and this is another ruse to scare people into NOT eating them so they don't get their supplements. Scurvy follows then vaccines.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Levi has discussed the radiation treatment of tomatoes somewhere before in his 10,000 posts :)

He's the Man.

Only reason why I'm aware of it is that I do grow my own tomatoes and it's quite obvious.

Apparently it's used on meat too, all for the same reasons.

Something I read about meat awhile back too is that just because it's red, doesn't mean it's fresh. They do this (dye the meat) to prolong it's shelf life and give the appearance that it's fresh.

If you've ever hunted or have been the receiver of deer meat you know that it's not red and doesn't appear red in your freezer either. It's more of a redish brown.

key: SUNTAN, how appropriate once again.

Web Guy:

Like 'Yellow Smoked Haddock'

Looks nicer but tastes more salty and salt preserves. Levi talked me out of buying this stuff ages ago.

Maybe I'm stupid but I really thought it was a different kind of treated fish. I've stuck with White natural haddock ever since.

(He also proved that carrots are dyed orange as well. They should be purple but big store food 'Experts' say people won't buy purple food so they dye them a nice colour)

Thought he was joking me again but since in Highlands I found it's right off the locals.

Natural carrots are purple and boy oh boy do the explode flavour in your mouth. Delish.

Additional Concerns
by: Hugh

A few months ago, I caught a news segment on TV that revealed that even when fruits and vegetables are handled properly on the farms, they get contaminated by means of the wooden cartons and other containers used to ship them in because the cartons are used over and over again without being cleaned and they accumulate more and more bacteria over time.

Then there's the stock people who touch the fruits when they put them on display at the supermarket and all the customers who touch the fruit when they're looking for the best pieces. On another note, the Illuminati-owned company Monsanto is forcing farmers around the world to use their genetically altered seeds to produce fruits and vegetables that are nutritionally inferior and ethically questionable.

But that's a whole other topic for someone with knowledge about genetically-altered foods to write about!

Despite all these concerns, I still believe that people should eat whatever they want because you can't worry about every single thing that you eat or drink. There's too much other more important things to worry about in life. As they say, "Eat, drink, and be merry" but be wary as well.

Web Guy:

Agreed. Don't get to hygienic minded. Our bodies actually need bacteria and we have developed a certain resistance against the bad stuff over the ages. They say that's why kids are sicker these days because they live in sterile environment and don't play in the dirt anymore. They sit in a room playing computers instead of outside getting excercise and fresh air. (With bacteria)

In all Seriousness
by: Josh

Ok, Ok, I'll stop playing around now :)

As an example if you didn't understand my previous post basically if a chlorine wash isn't good enough for your veggies then you can opt for irradiation theory/treatment. That's right 'radiation'. As far as tomatoes go there are several benefits to these once called "love apples" also in the past to have been thought as poisoness.

Check out what you can do with these things beside eat them.

In short I thought I remember hearing this type of treatment being used in the past and now it's being brought back, who knows.

What this does is kill not only the harmful bacteria but also the benifical bacteria. Leaving your once fulfilling and vitamin rich vegetable/fruit worthless. Rather than trying to explain here are a few links.

GO TO - www.organicconsumers.org

GO TO - www.scientificamerican.com

Why might you say?...to benefit the packager and seller, not the consumer. To maximize profits and deliver you a worthless product.

You might get more nutrition out of just eating your grass clippings.

keyword: CATTLE :)

Web Guy:

Did you know that Levi invented the 'Tomato Test' you mentioned in your last post?

It was way back in the 70's when 'Irradiated Food' was trying to be introduced. It was dropped because of public resistance but they sneaked it back in again a few decades later.

It's still illegal according to Levi but he says they get around it by irradiating it abroad the shipping it in.

We should bring back the movement and make it illegal to even let irradiated food into the country.

The big supermarkets would have hell of a problem then and would have to start being nice to the farmers and pay them decent money for a change.

No wonder kids have weight and mental problems being fed this no good food day in day out.

Levi's right again. Parents are the ones poisoning their kids.

Tomato Test + Storytime
by: Josh

Buy a tomato from your local food chain, but not until you have grown your own tomato plant.

They are easy to grow, but sometimes bugs can be and issue. I let em have at it, I just try to grow a lot so I get something out of them rather than dowsing them with chemicals. If there is a bad one I drop it on the ground and squish it so they leave the good ones alone, hopefully.

Anyways, after you have grown a full tomato and it is red or redish orange pull it and set it on your counter. Go buy a tomato from the store. Wait 2 weeks or longer. Inspect your tomatoes. Yours is probably in poor shape while the one from the store seems to be holding it's own.

Now do the same thing except this time try your own tomatoes and then try the one you bought.

"I have the perfect plan, masta."

"What is it this time you crooked bastard?"

"I have the perfect plan, it cannot fail."

"Tell me, Tell me what it is!"

"People need food right? It is the absolute necessity"

"Yeah.."

"So we will grow the food and say that it's healthy and feed it to the people"

"They can grow their own food, so what, it won't work"

"They are too busy and lazy to do such a thing. We will make them. Make it convienent. Make ours seem better. We can do this, masta"

"Why go through so much trouble? What's the point?"

"The Point! The point is we can charge whatever we like for the food cause we own it all. Then when we like we can poisen the food, make the people ill. So they can buy health insurance, pay medical bills, prescription medication. Filling our pockets beyond our imagination. Corn syrup is in everything. We control that and we can rip off the entire population before they've even had breakfast!"

"I like it!!! Go tell this farmer he's got to pay this amount in taxes and if he can't pay it we're taking it. When we've weeded out the competition we'll go to phase 2. While your at it work on a law to require permits to farm. That way if they aren't buying our food they will be paying us for growing their own."

"I like the way you think, masta. I'm getting a lot of ideas already"

Contamination
by: Eileen

If one thinks of what it was like centuries ago, with putrid water, the plague, rats, dirt, filth, and even in this century when families of ten or more lived in hovels, and had no indoor plumbing or running water...and had to go to the "ootside shunky", where five other families used two toilets and one sink for running water, per separate story in a five story building in "Auld Reekie" (Edinburgh), it's a miracle we survived.

It's been proven that "the hair of the dog that bit you", prevents all the diseases known to man. In other words...if you've been exposed to some bug, it's unlikely that it will kill you..as the body's immune system takes over and the body adjusts to the germ or virus.

Have you noticed that all these alarmists in the media who have said this or that salmonella recall of a product, or contamination of our food, water, blah, blah, blah, never actually kills more than a handful of people. Where is the proof that we are all dying by the millions from all these product recalls and supposedly contaminated products? I do agree that I am becoming suspicious of the benefits of vitamins etc. Heck some vitamins now cost more than just buying fruits and veggies.

Now the media is talking about the contamination of our sea food in the Gulf of Mexico for years to come, yet the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska did not pollute the sea food to the extent they said it would, and we are all still eating salmon and other fish from the Alaskan waters. My local supermarket still has plenty of "fresh" (a misnomer) seafood in the fish section on ice!!

Log-in word: GRINCH....yikes!

Supplements Are Contaminated Too
by: Hugh Manatee

Dear Web Guy,

It's funny you mentioned supplements because just last week I read an article about how 8 or 9 whey protein powders were tested for purity and all but one contained unsafe amounts of lead, cadmium and arsenic. Here in the U.S. supplements are not regulated so it's hard to dismiss these findings altogether.

That's why I check if a neutral, unbiased testing facility conducted the studies and not the industry who sells the products because they always try to slant the results their way to sell more product. I, too, was guilty of falling for big promises made by supplement companies to build muscle and burn fat but I realized that most supplements are good for nothing because they never lived up to the hype. Even simple multi-vitamins aren't that safe because they contain megadoses of vitamins and minerals that can produce toxic effects over time. My advice is moderation is they key and make sure you're not overdoing it with any supplement.

Cheers!

bacteria
by: Ida A

Hi,

You know in the US, in agriculture they can use the organic material from humans for fertilizer. It for this you sometimes have Salmonela in veg and fruits. Here in Canada it is illegal to do this. I'm ten years a truck driver in the US.

I travel around seven years with fruits, vegs, meats frozen. And sometime I need the go to meat inspection in Detroit Mi. And I can say to you since this time I'd would not buy any kind the meat in US.

The FDA is bullshit. They don't have any real standards for inspection of the foods.

I feel sorry for you guys. I'm almost always eating seafood (Im from side the sea) fresh, and fresh veg because I have a garden. When I go to the city it shocks me. It's not the same taste.

Since that time I'm very uncomfortable to eat in restaurants or other places out there.
Take care where you eat.

Grubby bugs
by: ChrisH(UK)

Yes, this is the sort of thing that always bothers me; messing with the food chains.
E.coli is normally a harmless organism at environmental temperatures (i.e in laboratories we used to use around 19 to 20 degrees C as an "environmental" temperature in which to test or grow bacteria). It is ubiquitous, that is, it is found everywhere, including our own digestive tract. However, if something triggers them to rapidly multiply, then you get problems. They grow best at around 37 degrees C.....so places that have real hot summers can expect outbreaks from time to time.

Salmonella is not one I'd have considered so much in fruit and veg but on the other hand it is a bacterium and the damned things travel about pretty fast. Any dirt, faecal contamination and similar, and you're in trouble. Workers packing the fruit and veg with grubby hands would create ideal circumstances for bacterial problems.

All the more reason to grow one's own as much as possible; if permitted. At least if you give yourself food poisoning, you know who to blame!
Medicines going into the water via urine and not being filtered out; yes.....that causes me a sweaty outbreak; it has one reaching for a private borehole or a rainbarrel with sand filtration.

And fluoride.....don't get me started on that. So far my area hasn't added it and doesn't plan to; but that means nothing. I'm still keeping an eye on it.
