I woke up this morning and turned on the TV to see the latest sign.

Food prices are on the rise. As the reporter interviewed various people who acknowledged that Milk, Bread, Orange juice etc has risen price the next statement really grabbed my attention. "Food companies are shrinking there products--- Sound familiar?

Another one stated by Levi.

For example Tropicana was selling a 64oz bottle of OJ and now it is 58oz's for the same price. They rattled off over 20 products that are doing it. We all know the food shortage is around the corner

So does the Baltic Dry Index really predict anything? If it does we are headed for some serious food shortages and price hikes.

It keeps dropping. I already see some changes in the grocery store. Subtle but I have noticed. My kid noticed how quickly the organic milk seems to run out at the stores. She likes milk, a lot. :)

Anyway, I better start thinking about investing in a cow. :)

wow, I happened to notice the same thing this morning - an obscure item - the "pop tart" - they shaved about an inch off the length of it - it is noticeably smaller, but the box it comes in and the foil wrapper inside is still the same size as before....

I will be on the lookout for other items....

Hi all,
I was in my local Asda the other day, looking specifically for an item which I couldn't locate. I stopped one of the assistants for help and she discovered there was none in store. She said there hadn't been any in since christmas, she then sort of nudged me conspiritualy and sneakly told me that she was confused, Asda had been cutting back on their orders for a few weeks now!!
I'm in no doubt there will be shortages, natural and staged. Just wish I could convince more people I know of the same thing.

To us regulars on here we were forewarned through Levi's blogs. I have also seen with my own eyes how scarce some products seem.

There can be many reasons for that but the other night I bought OJ and paid $4 for what I usually pay $2.50. Not sure if I had bad timing that night but could not help but notice. Especially how quickly OJ disappears in my home! Not whining but this is just a small glimpse of what is to come. Eek!

I imagine organic food is going to get a beating too because Monsato does not want them around.
And how can we grow our own food if they are destroying the bees?
