Possible MS Breakthrough

Hi all, wanted to bring attention to the article I read over the weekend regarding a possible breakthrough for MS sufferers - the premise is that rather than it being an autoimmmune disease, it is vascular - treatment (and if the article is accurate) is highly effective in the common remittant form of MS - procedure is a similar to when there is a blockage in the heart (angioplasty), but this is a blockage in the jugular veins to the brain - insertion of catheter/balloon to clear the blockages - Dr. Zamboni pioneered this procedure on his wife, who has now been symptom free for 3 years! - They site several other candidates who had undergone procedure with successful outomes.

Anyway for those who have family members afflicted with MS, there may be hope for a better quality of life down the road.

** interesting to note, HOWEVER, that while the MS Society in Canada is maintaining a cautious stance, the US Society goes further to urge sufferes NOT to have procedure or even check to see if veins are blocked (experimental surgery) but to stay with the pharma program of chemo/corticosteriods/pain meds et al....obviously, there would then be nothing for the societies to do.....and a huge loss of income for pharma.......

Hi Nadine,

I saw this article. We have someone close to our family who has the worse form of MS. It is such a cruel illness and there is nothing I wouldn't give to help find a cure. Our friend despite almost complete paralysis is the most wonderful loving and humerous lady you could ever meet. I never cease to be humbled by her bravery and dignity.

Medicinal Cannabis is very good for MS. Research it or look on You Tube.

If there is even a glimmer of hope that would help some if not all MS suffers then every resource known to mankind should be thrown at it. The fact that the medical establishment would hold back on investingating any ray of hope is just twisted and sick.

I hope the doctor concerned pushes ahead and those connected to MS suffers demand this interesting treatment be investigated further.

I read about this too, Nadine....if it is all true (and no reason why it shouldnt be), then there seems to be real hope for all MS sufferers. Typical though, that pharma companies would discourage MS people from checking it out....I hope that they (the MS people) will be queuing up to find out more about it for themselves!
