Wakipeadia

by Byron A.
(Yorkton, SK, Canada)

Dear REader,

I do not want to insult your intelligence in that since you are here you are probably above average about in the know situations, but I have just read another article that drives me insane.

It references wikipeadia as the source for it's base materials.

Now, I am sure that much information is good, some even entertaining, but any source that is editable by anyone is basically useless. It is bad enough with the MSM telling us lies but when people use wiki as a source I don't care how interesting it sounds I stop reading.

Just because it is on the internet does not make it the truth. For almost anything, anyone can find convincing arguments pro/con with bar graphs or graphics to boot. The internet is a great source of information, ie.

Project Camelot, Levi-tarot, etc.

But it is also dangerously full of non-sense that can distract one from the real problems. Anybody can write anything that they wish and make a professional looking site. And worse some of them believe their own BS.

Please be discerning in what you look up. And do not be afraid to get information from others (Lily has posted several links here, as well as Matt and other good ones) That is what this Blog is for of course).

I am sure that you are all thinking the same thing, "Quit beating the dead horse, we know", but for those of us who have just recently come out of the dark and given up our Luddite ways, it is very frustrating. (I still prefer books. And would rather read 1000 pages myself than a 2 screen summary.)

One must be discerning, and not be afraid to ask advice, maybe not from me, but from those here that are more familiar with the internet.

As Matt has said before use your intuition as your guide, but when in doubt verify.
For the future, for the new.
